Aspen Vista Trail
Saturday, October 22nd, 2022 at 9:59 pm

Aspen Vista Trail is a must-do hike in Santa Fe, especially in autumn! During the fall months, the trail is drenched with the vibrant and golden colors of changing aspen foliage. While hiking the trail, Lobos are rewarded with stunning views and occasional wildlife.

The trail itself ascends steadily through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. In the western United States, aspen trees are generally found at 5,000 to 12,000 feet elevation. The Aspen Vista Trail begins at 9,900 feet and summits at 12,000 feet, making for the perfect home to the shimmering leaves. “View” translates to “vista” in Spanish, giving the trail its name.

From wildflower fields in the spring, to a waterfall and a lake in the summer, there are numerous things to make your experience here more than enjoyable in every season. The experience is not limited to hiking; there are also a variety of outdoor activities you can enjoy including bird watching, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing.
