Sitting next to the iconic Rio Grande, the Albuquerque BioPark Zoo is a quick getaway that’s easy on the wallet. Hosting a wide variety of fauna, the BioPark Zoo transports you across the world to a diverse array of biomes. From brightly colored flamingos to towering giraffes, deep-diving penguins to playful polar bears, the conservation-oriented park is home to over 900 animals—with something for everyone to encounter and enjoy. With a host of food and drink options scattered along tree-lined paths, you’ll never be left wanting as you walk through 64 acres of exotic and native animal exhibits. One of park’s favorite animals are the family of elephants, whose playful nature always entertains guests and biologists alike. For a more up-close experience, the “Cat Walk” brings guests within yards of lions, leopards, tigers—and more. Plus, fowl such as colorful peacocks, strut through crowds throughout the entirety of the park. If you’d like somewhere to kick back and soak up the sun, the BioPark Zoo’s duck pond is a great place to picnic with friends between exhibits. Coming in at only $5 for students, this is a great afternoon activity for folks to take their friends to and enjoy!
