Friday, March 12th, 2021 at 10:04 pm

The biggest attraction at Fenton Lake State Park is the exceptional trout fishing! Fenton Lake is regularly stocked with Rainbow Trout and boasts natural Cutthroat Trout and German Brown Trout. Whether you are a fly fisherman, bait fisherman, or lure fisherman, Fenton Lake will have a fish with your name on it. If you are not having luck on the lake, try the river and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the streams. While walking the streams, you will come across multiple beaver dams and see waterfowl of all kinds – perfect for the wildlife lover!

Fenton Lake also has 35 reservation campsites for those who enjoy sleeping under the Ponderosa Pines and starry skies. Fenton Lake’s campgrounds are incredibly beautiful and are tucked away in the Jemez Mountains, inside the Santa Fe National Forest. Fenton Lake has 5 electric sites with water, season dependent sites with water, and 30 developed campsites. All our campsites have fire pits and benches, with plenty of room for people to stretch out. Fenton Lake also boasts a beautiful day use shelter made of wood with a giant stone fireplace that can be reserved for those who want to get together and enjoy the day.

For those who want to get away for the day, Fenton Lake has plenty for you to do. People can hike the trails that wander through the National Forest as well as enjoy some time on the water. You can kayak or canoe, paddle board, or just relax lakeside and get some fresh air and sun. With grills set up all along the lake, one can come grill out, or even bring their own grills! For a getaway close by, Fenton Lake is the place for you!
