The Taos Gorge
Friday, December 2nd, 2016 at 6:47 pm

If you happen to find yourself venturing up north, the Taos Gorge is a must see. Hiking trails extend down to the Rio Grande, offering amazing day treks with huge shifts in perspective and a steady transition in vegetation—from the desert plateau to the green riverbed. Downstream and closer to Taos, the iconic Gorge Bridge offers spectacular views of the Rio Grande and the Taos Mountains. At 565 feet above the mighty Rio, it is the seventh highest bridge in the U.S., so walking the bridge is a test for anyone with a fear of heights. For those that revel being at such an advantage point, the views of the gorge and the mountains are well worthwhile.
