Tucked in the heart of downtown Albuquerque at Robinson Park, right off 8th and Central Ave, the Downtown Growers’ Market is one of Albuquerque’s most unique hidden gems. Whether you’re an early riser or more of a brunch-time browser, the market runs from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday, from early April through early November, rain or shine.
At the market, you can forget all about fluorescent lights and long checkout lines. Instead, wander through rows of unique booths from local Albuquerque growers, bakers and artisans offering everything from fresh produce and flowers to homemade salsas, dog treats and hand-crafted goods. It’s truly so much more than your average farmers market, it’s a full experience and a perfect way to start your Saturday. With live music, grassy picnic spots and vendors galore, the park is buzzing every weekend.
Babysitting your cousin? No problem. Dog-sitting for your roommate? Bring the pup along! (Did we mention you can buy dog treats?) Parents in town? They’ll love it, too! The Growers’ Market is the kind of place where you can find something for everyone—kids, parents and college students alike. The laid-back, open-air atmosphere makes it a great place to read, sketch, chat, meander or even just take a break.
Whether you bring your trusty tote bag or end up scoring a new one there, odds are you’ll probably end up leaving with more than you had planned—maybe some fresh produce, a handmade gift, or a new favorite bakery treat you can’t stop thinking about.
Bring picnic blankets or chairs, grab a burrito and agua fresca from a local vendor, and before you know it, you’ll find yourself relaxing under a tree at one of the best things to do in Albuquerque.
P.S. Have a SNAP card? The Downtown Growers’ Market participates in the Double Up Food Bucks program, which doubles your spending power. Simply check in at the market’s bright yellow information tent and a staff member will be happy to get you squared away.
