The roar of the crowd, the chants of the student section, the fresh nachos calling your name; there’s not much that can compare to the hype of a Lobo basketball game at the legendary Pit. Home to the Men’s and Women’s Lobo Basketball teams, more than 15,000 howling Lobo fans can be found packing The Pit for each unforgettable game day. Those passionate fans can create a bit of noise (who would have thought), making The Pit one of the loudest and most energetic sports venues in the country. If you came to The Pit looking for a calm place to study, we’d suggest you reconsider.

Keep an eye on the calendar, as the Lobos play at The Pit weekly or every other week from late October through early March. UNM students can rally up and join the rambunctious and rowdy Howl Raisers (our student section), living up to the name and howling their hearts out at one of the best stadiums in the country.

The best part about these games? UNM students, yes, you, always get in for free, so there’s no excuse not to get loud. UNM students who pay the athletics fee can claim single-game tickets or even free season tickets for all regular season home games. Free parking is available to students in select lots as well. 

Don’t have a ride? The student shuttle runs on game day stopping at the President’s House, IT, Casa Del Rio/Coronado, Redondo, Yale Mall and Buena Vista, also free with a student ID. Now that you’re sufficiently convinced to become a hardcore Lobo fan, grab a friend, grab your Lobo gear, and we’ll see you at the game.
