Have you ever wanted to get a closer look at the farthest areas of the night sky? One of the best places to do that is The University of New Mexico Observatory! Attending a stargazing event at the observatory is unlike any other. These events guide you through the thrilling features of the night sky, showing you many of the interesting features of an Albuquerque star gaze.
These include, but are not limited to, a detailed viewing of the moon, the Milky Way Galaxy, and the Andromeda Galaxy! A fun fact is that the Andromeda Galaxy will collide with the Milky Way Galaxy and create a light show unlike anything that we have ever seen before. This glamorous event will unfortunately happen about five billion years from now.
Best of all, the observatory is a convenient and short walk from UNM Main Campus! Located along Yale Blvd., it is a five to ten minute (depending on how excited you are) walk from the UNM Duck Pond. The observatory is open after the sun sets on Friday nights and is free to the public.
Keep in mind the Observatory is centered around viewing the night sky, so cancellation is possible when there is too much cloud cover or unforeseen weather.
