Sometimes you need a break from the sweltering New Mexico sun. Luckily, a frosty refuge is just around the corner. The Outpost Ice Arena awaits you in the foothills of Albuquerque. It’s home to the aptly-named CooLLoop, which is two hockey-sized skating arenas connected together by icy tunnels. While many seasoned skaters and hockey players use the CooLLoop to perfect their craft—there is plenty of room for both moderate and beginning level skaters during the general skating sessions, which are open to the public. Plus, the cool air inside the space is a refreshing welcome to refugees of the desert’s scorching summer. Rental skates are available in all sizes, if you don’t have your own. And their Pro Shop is open for business as well, should you feel like purchasing your own skates or having your old blades resharpened. The Outpost Ice Arena provides hours of year-round entertainment for anyone looking to shred up the rink. It’s good to cool off in the pool, but it’s even better to chill out in style.
Many thanks to the members from our Lobo Hockey Team for teaching our Lobo Life explorers the ways of the ice!
