Under the appropriate name of SOMOS ABQ, Albuquerque came together this past weekend to celebrate so much of what makes this city special. In an event that took over the streets of downtown Albuquerque, dozens of local artists, musicians, non-profits and businesses came together to put on an event that drew thousands. There were food trucks, virtual reality installations, interactive art pieces, performances by huge musicians including headliner Dillon Francis, and booth after booth of nonprofits who work tirelessly to provide opportunities for New Mexicans. In a city that has had its issues with growing and defining its identity, SOMOS ABQ aimed to show just what it means to say We Are Albuquerque. To the credit of all involved, SOMOS made us students prouder than ever to say it.
